At Literally, we embrace the complexity, intelligence, and creativity of women around the world. Inspired by Anita Loos’ Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, we strive to abolish the idea that beauty and brains are mutually exclusive. Our pages consist of thought-provoking literature, essays, and other art forms for women contrasted with the aesthetics of the feminine magazines we know and love, showing that the two can and do co-exist. By blending pop culture with literature, we create a space for all aspects of femininity to be explored.
We believe that intelligence is stunning, literature can be accessible, and women’s voices deserve to be heard.
Amanda McKay
Founding Coeditor
Amanda McKay is an Assistant Director at a small public library. She is especially drawn to books that explore complicated and messy women, anything with a dark academia vibe, and the messy side of the human experience. Her favorite book changes frequently, but right now it is I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman.
When she is not editing, she is probably drinking coffee, playing with her dog, or doing a craft. She is passionate about building an inclusive literary space here at Literally.
Anna Vallée

Anna Vallée is a writer living in France. Her writing has been published in Arrowsmith Journal, Brattle Street Review, MicroLit Almanac, and Poetries in English. She was a semifinalist for The Adroit Journal’s 2025 Anthony Veasna So Fiction Scholars, and her short story won a Tucson Festival of Books Literary Award. She is a 2026 participant in fiction at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. She holds an MFA from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an Ed.M from Harvard University.

Sara Sutton holds an MFA in Fiction from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She teaches English at Georgia State University Perimeter College and is at work on her first novel. Her personal essay, “Collecting My Scattered Teeth,” is forthcoming in Alaska Quarterly Review.

Kinno (she/they) is on infinite side quests to defeat the Patriarchy one unrelated task at a time. She holds degrees in English and Classical Languages and Literature. Her poetry appears in a gathering together, the Decolonial Passage, MIDLVLMAG, the Cade Cod Review (forthcoming), Aothen, and others. Their fiction appeared in Mystic Owl Magazine and is forthcoming in MIDLVLMAG.
